Iranian short ‘Hole’ wins at Int'l Film Festival ZOOM

Iranian short film ‘Hole’ grabs an award at the 2021 Int’l Film Festival ZOOM – ZBLIZENIA in Poland.

Iranian short film ‘Hole’ has grabbed the Best Short Film award at the 24th edition of the International Film Festival ZOOM – ZBLIZENIA in Poland.

Directed by Amir Roueeni, the short film depicts an odd situation in a malfunctioning mortuary of a graveyard.

The failure in the mortuary’s function has resulted in the stinking of the corpses.

The families of the deceased have to bury the corpses but a 10-year-old boy is determined to keep his late mother’s body.

Also written by Roueeni, the short’s cast list includes Amirali Roueeni, Nazanin Karimi, and Davoud Zarchi.

The ZOOM – ZBLIZENIA is one of the most important independent festivals in Poland.

The festival hosts films with various topics and themes.

According to the festival’s website, “it aims to present the author’s cinema, ambitious, high artistic value, moving independent and original subject matter, as well as the promotion of independent film art”.

The 2021 edition of the event was held on September 6-12.
